Slí na Croí - Malinké music of upper Guinea

Barra Ó’Flanniagh lives and has roots in the soil of south Sligo. There he runs a school for traditional studies of village style djembe and dundun music from the Hamana/Gberudou areas of upper Guinea in West Africa. It is the music of the Malinké peoples of this area. This is a magic and amazing music in itself, once very powerful to be playing and strongly infectious to listen to. Barra is founder of the traditional percussion group Djoussou Kan and also djembe/sangbanfola with the group Fakoli. He travels regularly to study with the players in Guinea and in Europe and his south Sligo school can be found online Slí na Croí - Malinké music of upper Guinea.

For the 20th Anniversary Celebrations at Dunderry this year he will be moving away from the smaller ensemble training to co-host a huge drumming circle - so come along and bring your drum!

This will be one magical experience that is not to be missed!
